Texas divorce laws. I am getting divorced and I have a few questions.?

I was married for less than a year and now I'm getting divorced. During our marriage my ex wife went to the hospital numerous times accumulating a $23,000 bill. I live in Texas and would like to know if indeed it's mandatory for me to pay half of this, because according to my ex wife, I am liable for half of her hospital expenses. I received a 2nd set of divorce papers and under the section of division of debt it say like this " IT IS ORDERED AND DECREED that the husband , me, shall pay half of debts etc. etc., can anyone tell me if indeed is mandatory and in case it is, is there anyway to appeal this? Thanks>
