Putting aside the genocide was there any right or logical things about the Khmer Rouge's Ideology?

Putting aside of course the 1.5-2 million Cambodians who died during the war, there may have been something right about the Khmer Rouge ideology, but indeed they went about the wrong way implementing it. Could they have achieved it in a peaceful fashion.
